ABOUT THE FRAIL

An explosive union of electro beats and smooth falsetto vocals, The Frail is a flirtatious radio worthy electronica that caters to dance fans of The Postal Service, The Faint and Hot Chip. Their debut EP "Count On This" was released in May of 2007.

In the less than a year from conception, The Frail has taken the Bay Area music scene by storm. The San Francisco based electronic four piece has shared the stage with local acts such as Every Move A Picture, A Hundred Days, Red Host, Evening Episode, The Blacks, 45isDistance, Rescue Me and headliners such as Elephone, Scissors for Lefty, Audrey Sessions, Immigrant, Minipop and Sugarcult at the Bay Area Indie Music Festival. They have also joined the bill with international acts such as Ming and Ping and Tunng.

Shortly after the release of their EP in June 2007 on Tricycle Records, title track "Count on This" was featured on the Tankfarm Future Sounds Compilation and added to the play lists of legendary Bay Area radio stations Live 105 and SOMA FM as well as being featured by Aaron Axelson on Live 105's music show Soundcheck. The Frail was also a featured band at Live 105's Summer Concert series in 2007.

Their award winning video for "Count on This" earned the band a place in the Owl Magazine "Video Makes a Radio Star" contest in November 2007.

REVIEWS

"Surprisingly cohesive for their audience debut, The Frail's performance hinted that bigger stages weren't far off. The band's dark and dancey electro sound could easily land them a spot opening for Bloc Party or Hot Hot Heat. Lights and smoke did help to create such an impression, but even without the showiness, their set was anything but frail. Hypnotic synths, breathy and falsetto vocals, crisp drums and pulsating bass pierced through the fog to create both a wistful soundscape like that of The Postal Service, and a heavier, more volatile design like that of The Faint. Once The Frail hones its stage presence and gets more comfortable in front of a crowd, everything will be golden; and until then, the slight awkwardness is endearing." – Katherine Hoffert, Performer Magazine

"The Bay Area's The Frail are the perfect fix for anyone waiting for the next POSTAL SERVICE record, and oddly enough, this reference is actually fitting, as they met online, exchanging songs over the internet to create the original demos, like said Postal Service. The Count On This EP, is full of big electronic beats mixed with indie rock sensibilities, tipping their caps to HOT CHIP at times, then to DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE at others." Future Sounds

"Freshly signed to Tricycle Records and currently in the studio working on their first album, the Frail has already become an addiction for me, as I keep revisiting their MySpace page to listen again and again. For fans of The Postal Service."

Elise Nordling, Rightround / SOMA FM
